Species: PREHNITE Locality: Merrimack Industrial Interchange, Merrimack, NH Specimen Size: 7.5 cm specimen with 2 cm zone of pale green prehnite in basalt vug Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 794 Notes: |

Species: PREHNITE Locality: Rt. 101 - 101A road cut, Amherst, NH Specimen Size: 7 cm specimen with glassy pale-green prehnite crystals. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer (Aug 1997) Catalog No.: 1029 Notes: |
Species: PREHNITE Locality: Rt. 101 - 101A Road Cut, Amherst, NH Specimen Size: 1.8 mm prehnite bow-tie with tiny pyrite crystals and babingtonite Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u327 Notes: |

Species: PREHNITE Locality: Rt. 101 - 101A road cut, Amherst, NH Specimen Size: 1.8 mm prehnite fan Field Collected: Tom Mortimer, Aug. 1997 Catalog No.: u327 Notes: I have difficulty photo-ing these bright-white, lustrous, prehnite clusters. Increasing the light just washes everything out. Photo from a 66 image stack with Canon T3i, EFS 55-250 lens, plus B&L objective lens, processed with Helicon Focus Method B. |

Species: PREHNITE Ca2Al2Si3O12(OH) Locality: Mine Falls Park, Nashua, NH Specimen Size: 5 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: p/o u279 Notes: These tabular prehnite crystals were found in calcite filled seams. Sharp, clean, crystals are exposed by dissolving the calcite with vinegar or muriatic acid. |

Species: PREHNITE Locality: Mine Falls Park, Nashua, NH Specimen Size: 5 mm field of view. Stilbite crystal protruding from top. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: p/o 1062 Notes: |
Species: PREHNITE ? Locality: Pike Quarry, Hooksett, NH Specimen Size: 2 mm string of milky rhombic crystals. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 2014 Catalog No.: NC Notes: First thought was that these were calcite, but gave NO fizz in muriatic acid. Given presence in basalt amygdule void, chabazite is good guess....but a Bob Wilken reminded me chabazite will slowly decompose to a gel in HCl. No decomposition was observed after several hours. The remaining prime candidate would seem to be prehnite. |

Species: PREHNITE ? Locality: Pike Quarry, Hooksett, NH Specimen Size: 0.5 mm cluster of milky rhombic crystals. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 2014 Catalog No.: u1481 Notes: |

Species: PREHNITE Locality: Mine Falls Park Locale, Nashua, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 279 Notes: Distinct orthorhombic tablets are visible. |
|
Species: PREHNITE Locality: Mine Falls Park Locale, Nashua, NH Specimen Size: 2.5 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 278 Notes: Isolated orthorhombic prehnite crystals are uncommon. This one has truncated corners. Another crystal to the left, rear, caught a lot of reflection, but exemplifies the form also. |
